From Los Angeles to New York, and beyond, Betty Boop seems to be everywhere this holiday season! Last week, she was featured in the 86th Hollywood Christmas Parade and on the cover of New Yorker Magazine! ![]() You'll also find Betty in the pages of We're Going to Be Friends, the first ever children's book by Jack White (the multi-talented, twelve-time Grammy-winning lead singer of the White Stripes) with illustrations by Ren and Stimpy animator, Elinor Blake. The book, released just a two weeks ago, features a full page image of a vintage Betty Boop pocket watch. In Barcelona, Filmoteca de Catalunya's just wrapped up its Fleischer Film Festival featuring a showing of Betty Boop in "Snow White." If all this leaves you hankering to see some vintage Betty Boop on the big screen, don't miss the Echo Park Film Center Classic Cartoon Family Night in Southern California on December 6th. We just had to share this fascinating post from the website dedicated to the work and life of Max Fleischer's son, and famed movie director, Richard Fleischer! Richard's son, and the President and CEO of Fleischer Studios, Mark Fleischer, recounts this riveting story from the 1961 set of Barabbas - Some years ago my father, Richard Fleischer, was directing the movie “Barabbas” in Rome. One of the most dramatic scenes of the movie was the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. At the time that my father was preparing to shoot that scene, a total eclipse of the sun was scheduled to occur at nearby Sienna. You can check out the amazing eclipse footage in this scene from Barabbas here! It was on August 9, 1930, that a doe-eyed, nameless nightclub singer made her big screen debut in "Dizzy Dishes." Though her role was brief, she quickly won over audiences, and it wasn't long before she became known to the world as Betty Boop. We hope you enjoy this short video tribute to Betty, and don't forget to check out the 6-part Betty Boop exhibit in our Museum!
The J-esthetics media campaing also includes print and digital ads, posters in transit stations, on subway and trains, print ads, electronic billboards and contests.
Check out these fabulous new looks strutting the catwalk last week in Los Angeles!
The collection will include items for men, women and children, so the entire family can be outfitted in Moschino style gear featuring Betty Boop and Pudgy!
