We're so excited about Betty's stylish new streetwear collection from Lazy Oaf! The Betty Boop x Lazy Oaf 15-piece collection features styles for women and men, including a jacket, sweatshirts, jeans, oversized dresses, a tote and more.
Inspiration for this unique collection came from the best of Betty Boop classic character memorabilia, vintage Americana Betty leather jackets, and 1980s and ‘90s streetwear references. The collection embodies Betty’s trademark pin-up sass, mixed with streetwear silhouettes and signature oversized Oaf shapes. Lazy Oaf founder and head designer Gemma Shiel says, “Betty is an icon, someone that I have grown up with, she is sexy, sassy, empowering and essentially street smart. She bucks expectations and goes her own way which is what I encourage everyone to do! Working with Betty has been a dream. You can check out more of the new designs below and shop the whole collection at LazyOaf.com. From Los Angeles to New York, and beyond, Betty Boop seems to be everywhere this holiday season! We just had to share this fascinating post from the website dedicated to the work and life of Max Fleischer's son, and famed movie director, Richard Fleischer! Richard's son, and the President and CEO of Fleischer Studios, Mark Fleischer, recounts this riveting story from the 1961 set of Barabbas - Some years ago my father, Richard Fleischer, was directing the movie “Barabbas” in Rome. One of the most dramatic scenes of the movie was the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. At the time that my father was preparing to shoot that scene, a total eclipse of the sun was scheduled to occur at nearby Sienna. You can check out the amazing eclipse footage in this scene from Barabbas here! It was on August 9, 1930, that a doe-eyed, nameless nightclub singer made her big screen debut in "Dizzy Dishes." We hope you enjoy this short video tribute to Betty, and don't forget to check out the 6-part Betty Boop exhibit in our Museum!
